Saba Grocers Initiative is a BIPOC-led organization building a regional, values-based food hub in the San Francisco Bay Area that connects local farmers to institutional buyers, including schools, hospitals, and community institutions. Led by a multilingual, multi-racial team with deep roots in farming and supply-chain management, Saba acts as a logistical anchor, coordinating aggregation, transportation, and contract facilitation to expand market access for BIPOC and immigrant producers. The initiative ensures healthy, culturally relevant food reaches communities while creating stable revenue opportunities for small farmers. With prior success distributing millions of pounds of local produce, Saba is scaling its operations to serve institutional customers, implementing crop-planning contracts, expanding its sales team, and solidifying forward commitments with farmers and buyers, ultimately positioning the Saba Food Hub as a community-led anchor institution that advances equity, food sovereignty, and sustainable local food systems.
