Plant It Forward (PIF) is a nonprofit organization transforming Houston’s small-farm system into a cooperative, certified food hub that connects local farmers to wholesale and institutional markets. PIF provides aggregation, distribution, training, and technical support while embedding farmers in governance through an advisory group, ensuring shared ownership and decision-making. By achieving food-safety certification, PIF enables farmers to reliably supply schools, hospitals, and nonprofit distributors. The organization strengthens relationships across the food chain, from production to institutional procurement, advancing regional food equity, building local economic resilience, and creating a replicable model for inclusive, community-driven agriculture.
