Pittsburgh Food Policy Council is a member-based, equity-focused organization that convenes coalitions and drives systems-level change across the Greater Pittsburgh food system. PFPC advances racial, social, and economic justice through policy, education, and coordinated Good Food Purchasing initiatives, connecting institutional buyers including schools, hospitals, and government agencies. Acting as a backbone organization for the Pittsburgh Good Food Coalition (PGFC), PFPC provides technical support, procurement training, and foodshed mapping, while facilitating partnerships with labor groups, municipalities, and community organizations. Through its work, PFPC strengthens equitable regional food supply chains, builds capacity for underrepresented producers, and ensures that community-serving institutions purchase food that is local, sustainable, healthy, and just, ultimately creating a replicable model for food system transformation at a regional scale.
