2023 Grantee

PG Changemakers

Focusing on human dignity and the food environment in Prince George’s County jails, PG Changemakers is working to change carceral food systems and restore justice to those currently and previously incarcerated. Their campaign is a collective effort led by PG Changemakers and teamed with Life After Release and Prince George’s Food Equity Council and consists of three key foci: community organizing and base building, policy development, and policy advocacy.

Within their program they also include healthy cooking demonstrations and community dinners for formerly incarcerated folks in order to build community and show how food can be a force of healing.
