2023 Grantee

Oneida Nation

Oneida Nation of Wisconsin is a Federally-recognized Native tribe of Oneida people in Wisconsin. Oneida Nation’s food systems work focuses on advancing food security and cultural preservation through the cultivation of native crops, and building the capacity of farmers in their community and among neighboring tribal nations.

GROWING JUSTICE funding will support the Oneida Nation’s efforts to create pathways and restore economic power and food sovereignty to indigenous peoples and establish a more just and equitable food system for all. Work will involve the creation of tribal networks, the implementation of educational programs, and farming on 200 acres of indigenous crops in Wisconsin.
