2023 Grantee

Oneida Nation

Oneida Nation of Wisconsin is a Federally-recognized Native tribe of Oneida people in Wisconsin. Oneida Nation’s food systems work focuses on advancing food security and cultural preservation through the cultivation of native crops, and building the capacity of farmers in their community and among neighboring tribal nations.

GROWING JUSTICE funding will support the Oneida Nation’s efforts to focus on engaging community members with their food systems, educate their communities of their seeds, foods, and medicines, and empower their community members in growing medicines and foods. This community-encompassing and supportive approach is intentional as their food sovereignty efforts and reclamation of their food system are focused on small-scale homesteads and families that are empowered to grow for their own families and other community members.
