2025 Grantee

Louden Tribe

Louden Tribe is advancing tribal-led food production in Galena, Alaska, through the Food Production on Tribal Land with Biomass-Heated Greenhouses (FPTL) Project, integrating renewable energy and greenhouse operations to extend the growing season and increase access to fresh, local food. Led by Tribal Council members and a skilled project team, the initiative combines technical expertise, Indigenous knowledge, and community input to create a scalable, sustainable model for food sovereignty, climate resilience, and local economic opportunity. By engaging schools, community institutions, and regional partners, the project ensures future greenhouse production has reliable markets while building local capacity in agriculture and small business development. By the end of the planning year, FPTL will deliver a shovel-ready, replicable model that strengthens Native-led food systems, fosters self-determination, and supports both subsistence and commercial agriculture in Interior Alaska.
