2024 Grantee

Hmong American Farmers Association

The Hmong American Farmers Association (HAFA) is dedicated to empowering Hmong farmer-entrepreneurs in Minnesota by providing critical resources, training, and opportunities to expand their businesses. By supporting its members with affordable land, infrastructure, and access to larger markets, HAFA facilitates the growth of their produce sales beyond farmers markets, including to local schools, daycares, and food co-ops. With the purchase of climate-controlled processing equipment, including walk-in coolers and a commercial kitchen, HAFA aims to increase its farmers’ capacity to store and process produce year-round, ensuring a more consistent and reliable supply to institutional buyers. This project will also enable farmers to produce value-added products, fostering economic growth and intergenerational wealth within the Hmong community while enhancing food security for low-income families.
