Endazhi-Nitaawiging Charter School is advancing Indigenous food sovereignty and equitable access to traditional, healthy foods through its Mino Miijim Mikan (The Good Food Path) initiative. By connecting students, families, farmers, and cultural teachers, the school integrates classroom learning with land-based practices while linking local and Indigenous producers to institutional markets. Through gardens, a year-round greenhouse, culturally grounded curricula, and equitable procurement strategies, the project nurtures student leadership, strengthens local food economies, and ensures that traditional knowledge and foods are shared across generations. This work models how schools can serve as anchor institutions, supporting community health, cultural continuity, and sustainable, locally rooted food systems.
