DC Greens is a Black-led, multiracial organization that uses the power of equitable food policy, education, and access to build a more just and resilient food system in our nation’s capital. DC Greens’ vision for health equity is a city in which each Washingtonian can shape the policies and institutions that impact the collective wellbeing.
A longtime leader in advocating for values-based food procurement, DC Greens’ current institutional food efforts includes systems change work to transform DC jail food and push for universal free school meals. DC Greens involves impacted communities at every stage in the advocacy process, by coordinating workshops, leading community feedback sessions and forums, and providing technical assistance for returning citizen organizations.
