Community Food Advocates works to transform public food procurement so that taxpayer dollars advance equity, sustainability, and justice across the food system. Through coalition building and policy advocacy, CFA supports the adoption of values-based purchasing that benefits farmers, workers, communities, and the environment. CFA works across the entire food chain—connecting small and mid-sized producers, labor organizations, food businesses, food policy councils, and institutional buyers such as schools and municipal agencies. With a focus on opening sustainable markets for historically excluded producers and moving institutions beyond lowest-bid purchasing models, CFA helps create healthier meals, stronger local economies, and more transparent, resilient food systems throughout New York State.
