2023 Grantee

Brooklyn Packers

Brooklyn Packers, LLC is a Black-led, worker-owned food sourcing, packing, and distribution cooperative in New York City. Strengthening farm-to-city pathways and bringing quality produce from BIPOC and queer farmers, Brooklyn Packers has been helping to build food sovereignty in Brooklyn since 2016. Their program is anchored in a retail farmshare that connects low-income, under-served residents of Brooklyn’s Bedford-Stuyvesant community to high-quality produce from small-scale producers. They also offer sliding scale prices to customers to ensure that quality food is not a luxury and always accessible. With transportation and storage being their largest barriers currently faced, support from GROWING JUSTICE will help to expand capacity and impact for their existing networks.
