2024 Grantee

Liberated Land Cooperative

The Liberated Land Cooperative (LLC) is a statewide collective of 17 Black, Brown, and Indigenous farmers in Connecticut, working together to address barriers in the food value chain and create sustainable opportunities for marginalized communities. LLC provides a platform for collective selling, enabling farmers to overcome challenges such as lack of access to professional infrastructure by investing in essential equipment like refrigerators, sterilizers, and shared delivery systems. This project will empower farmers to scale their operations, access institutional markets, and foster long-term resilience. By connecting members to institutional buyers such as schools, hospitals, and local organizations, LLC not only strengthens the economic stability of its farmers but also ensures consistent, locally sourced food is available to underserved communities. Through partnerships with universities and food justice organizations, LLC is setting a model for equitable food procurement and creating pathways for future farmers to succeed in sustainable agriculture.
