2023 Grantee

Ziibimijwang Inc.

Ziibimijwang was established to serve Indigenous — particularly Odawa — food producers in the northern Michigan region. Ziibimijwang Inc. hopes to remedy existing disparities in the community by directly addressing the infrastructure and informational needs required to promote the use of Tribal and local food products by Tribal institutions and enterprises.

Funds from GROWING JUSTICE will help increase storage capacity, transportation capacity and support a shared inventory among food producers in the area, and advance their efforts to create economic connections between Tribal and BIPOC food producers and Tribal institutions and enterprises looking for culturally specific products.
