Real Food Challenge mobilizes students and campus communities to shift institutional food purchasing toward values-aligned, equitable, and sustainable practices. Operating through a distributed leadership model, RFC combines student organizing, technical tools like the Real Food Calculator, and collaborative partnerships with producers, distributors, and policy networks to promote transparency, accountability, and systemic change in higher education food systems. By training student leaders, auditing campus food spend, and supporting the adoption of Real Food Procurement Policies, RFC builds capacity for long-term institutional change while connecting students, producers, and distributors in a national movement for food justice, worker rights, and environmental sustainability.
